The OneVoice Movement, a non-partisan, grassroots Israeli-Palestinian organization. With an unprecedented coalition of Israeli, Palestinian and international leaders supporting it, the OneVoice Movement has already had massive impact during the Palestinian Presidential elections and the Disengagement from Gaza and is a unique position to mobilize tens of thousands of committed volunteers to help support and demand conflict resolution.
Two youth leaders, one Israeli and one Palestinian, will join forces to bring their side of the story to Kalamazoo. Their message is the message of the majority, their ally is the other, their enemy is extremism: they are OneVoice. Nelly Soudah and Adi Frum want to share their voices with you.
The situation in the Middle East is critical and the need to fight extremism in the West has never been so immediate. International communities, with the luxury of distance, are often the first to polarize in the wake of conflict. Palestinians and Israelis, however, do not have this choice. They live with the daily realities of conflict. For them compromise is not an option, it is a necessity—they are refusing to condemn their children to occupation and terror.
Adi Frum and Nelly Soudah will be lending their hands to stop the flow of hate and ignorance generated in their names and provide a model of compromise and joint action for groups on campuses and communities. Do not let this unique proclamation of solidarity with the courageous moderates of the Middle East go unheard—help give these voices the volume they deserve!
OneVoice Guest Speakers' Biography
Meet Nelly Soudah and Adi Frum, activists from Palestine and Israel who will share OneVoice’s message with campuses across Michigan from January 28th to February 2nd, 2007.
Born in Ramallah, 24-year-old Nelly Soudah grew up during the first Palestinian intifada. Tired of a life under occupation, she and her sister were determined to change the situation of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. They joined the OneVoice Movement to learn leadership and conflict resolution skills which are helping them lead their own community towards peace and statehood. A senior OneVoice Palestine Youth Leader, Nelly has spearheaded OneVoice events in and around Ramallah. She is currently studying at Birzeit University in the West Bank where she majors in finance and business administration.
30-year-old Adi Frum hails from Tel Aviv. After completing his army service, Adi obtained his Bachelor’s Degree at The College of Management in Tel Aviv and currently works in the business field. Though relations between Israelis and Palestinians have become increasingly strained in recent years, Adi still remembers accompanying his grandfather, a leather salesman, on his trips throughout the West Bank before the first intifada and he maintains the conviction that the solution to this conflict must come from the people.
