Amber Adams
Major: Creative Writing
Minor: Textile and Apparel Studies: Merchandising
Years at WMU: 5
Amber joined MODA after receiving an internship with Debra Youngs, a Bernina sponsored designer in Schoolcraft, MI. Her collection is going to be a costumey blend of fabric modification techniques, knitted garments, and brilliant fall colors. She enjoys the creative side of design, and the ability to construct something that can't be purchased in an average store. |

Brittney Dudeck
Major: Textile and Apparel Studies: Design and Development
Years at WMU: 5
Brittney Joined MODA so she could meet people with the same interests in fashion. After taking the first apparel construction class at Western Brittney decided she wanted a chance to display her own creations. Her Fall 2007 collection is an assortment of day and evening pieces in a black, tan, gold, and white color pallet that is perfect for the flirtatious woman who's always on the go. |

Brandon Henderson
Major: Textile and Apparel Studies: Merchandising
Minor: Music
Brandon has been a member of MODA since fall 2004. He has stage managed six fashion shows and designed womens wear in four shows. He acts as the head judge at modeling auditions and has been a public relations chair, secretary of the executive board, and vice president. Brandon's designs are "sophisticated-sexy" with a real emphasis on bold shimmery fabrics that are expensive-looking and refined. His goal is to move to New York City in the fall of 2008 to pursue a career as a modeling scout, or as a fashion assistant at a large fashion magazine such as Vogue. |

Kathleen Marie Herm
Major: Textile and Apparel Studies: Merchandising
Minors: General Business & Fashion Design
Years at WMU: 2nd year (Sophomore)
Kathleen is a sophomore at WMU, a second year member in MODA, and also a member of the
Bronco
Dance Team. As a freshman last year, she joined MODA to be in the creative presence of other
fashion
lovers/designers like herself. She absolutely loves everything MODA does and is proud of the
donations they are able to make to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Her design inspiration comes from Old Hollywood icons and celebrities. Her style could be described
as
Marilyn Monroe meets Betsey Johnson. She likes her designs to be very wearable and to accentuate
the female figure. Be prepared for a classy/sophisticated collection with some fun surprises! |

Katie Johnson
Major: Marketing
Minor: Textile and Apparel Studies: Merchandising
Years at WMU: Senior
Katie is a Senior at Western, and a second year MODA member. She has been on MODA's E-board as the Treasurer, and is currently the Vice President. As a transfer student last year, Katie joined MODA to become involved on campus and with the fashion program at WMU. She loves watching MODA grow with each semester's fashion show and is proud of what MODA has been able to accomplish |

Akilah Jones

Minor: Business
Years at WMU: 4yrs
Akilah joined MODA because it was an opportunity for her to showcase her creativity as well as present a style people have never experienced. Her urban designs are sophisticated, stylish and sexy. The collection this fall is fabulous in all directions, not only does Akilah include sexy and chic designs, but she's also added some eye-popping, innovative, original pieces that have never been seen before. Originally from New Orleans, Akilah has an essence like no other; she conveys that Crescent City love through her designs. |

Kristina Moellering
Major: Textile and Apparel Studies: Design and Development & Business Management
Years at WMU: 6
Kristina joined MODA during her third hear at Western to have the opportunity to showcase her work.. She soon moved up to a leadership position because of her passion for the organization and it's causes and a dream about what the organization could be. During her four year membershipKristina has produced five collections in MODA's fashion shows. Her Fall 2007 collection features ready to wear garments in multiple styles for males and females which embody her fascination with the Disco era of the 1970s. Kristina's unique interpretation of retro garments and silhouette gives her designs a distinctive style. |

Stephanie Moog
Major: Textile and Apparel Studies: Design and Development

This is Stephanie's first year in MODA. She joined because she wanted to get more involved in things that had to do with her career. Ashley's planned collection is in all different shades of blue, from dresses to pants. What sets her apart from other designers is her creative mind. |

Kiara Nalli
Major: Textile & Apparel Studies: Design and Development:
Year: Junior
Kiara has been part of MODA for 3 years. She joined to become more involved and this will be first year designing a collection for MODA's fashion shows. Her fall 2007 collection features a mix of preppy meets French with Marie Antoinette serving as her inspiration. The major fabrics in Kiara's collection include silks, taffetas, damasks, and wools. |

Liza Marie Nay

As a designer, Liza strives to create garments that are sophisticated and classic with a feminine flare. From casual to eveningwear, she is known for quality construction and attention to detail. MODA has given Liza the opportunity to showcase her designs and network with potential customers. Her fall 2007 collection features a unique take on the looks of the twenties. |

Alana Christine Nelson

Years at WMU: First Year
Alana is a transfer student from Lansing Community College. She joined MODA to learn more about the fashion industry and perfect her skills as a designer. Her night-life collection focuses on a young, sexy, and sophisticated style using deep fall colors. Alana's simple techniques combined with touches of elaborate details set her designs apart from other designers. |

Katie Nolff

Katie has been a MODA member for three years and plans to graduate spring 2008. She recently lived in London, England for 6 months where she broadened her horizons and perfected her techniques. She challenges herself with every collection by striving for innovative design, perfect fit and couture quality. |

Ashley joined MODA to get more experience with the fashion industry and to collaborate with other students who share the same interests. Ideas for her collection keep morphing but it will probably have a vintage feel with a modern twist. |

Ashley Pray

Years at WMU : 2004 through 2008 (graduating in Spring 08)
Ashley has been working in fashion since she was in high school and has enjoyed sewing her own garments since she was just five years old. She usually works in formal wear and focuses on making her garments chic and classy. Ashley appreciates being a part of an organization that enables her to freely express herself though her designs. |

Karyn Ryan
Major: Textile and Apparel Studies: Design and Development
Years at WMU: 2
Karyn is
an official MODA newbie who wanted to join for the chance to
be around other students who share the same passion. The collection
she is currently working on has a very feminine, retro flair with pop
culture influences. Her personal style and inspiration come from
classic films and stars such as Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren,
styles that are classic yet incredibly beautiful and timeless. Karyn
is also inspired by designers and artists who have reinvented themselves
and their clothing to suit their own tastes; people like John Galliano
and Madonna are amongst her favorites. |

Maria Smith

Years at WMU: 5
Maria is a senior at WMU and a third year member in MODA. She joined MODA as a sophomore to have the opportunity to showcase her designs. Her Fall 2007 collections are inspired by Italian fashion, big city life, and natural materials. This fall her work incorporates practical and funky designs, handmade jewelry and neutral colors. |

Dora Theodoropoulos

Years at WMU: 5
Dora is studying fashion design as her second degree at Western to accompany her BA in business marketing and economics minor. She is a first year MODA member and joined to interact with other students interested in the fashion industry, and to gain fashion show experience. Dora learned her sewing skills from her parents who are both tailors and has been designing and making clothes for the past three years. Hr collection is inspired by simple yet classic styles that resemble designs by Michael Kors and Elie Tahari. Dora's strives for quality construction and designs that will look great on any female figure |

Zoë Valette

Years at WMU: Freshman
Zoë's innate artistic passion has inspired her to design and create clothing since she was a child. She eventually joined MODA to gain experience in fashion show production. Zoë's women’s collection for fall is focused on simple, wearable elegance, and includes hand-knit items as well as woven garments. |

Ashley Yea
Major: Textile and Apparel Studies: Design and Development
Years at WMU:
Ashley is a second year MODA member and has designed for two fashion shows. Having an interest and background in historical costume design, Ashley visualizes her collections in a more unrealistic "haute couture" image. Her clothing designs are inspred from the classic chic of the 1920s Coco Chanel fusing the glamour of the 1940s and 1950s and the extremity of Comme des Garcons with her own personal touch of whimsical, impractical elements. Ashley's Fall 2007 collection features garments iinspired by urban life. |
