This is an entry-level, professional position on the track to Partner.  We are looking for an individual who will be ready to begin during the summer of 2006 in our Kalamazoo office (we are in the Trade Centre Building).  Our professional standards and our clients require outstanding skills including the following for this position:

1. A solid academic history which includes a major in finance/financial planning or accounting
2. An overall and major GPA of at least 3.25
3. Excellent communication skills in working with clients and other team members
4. Demonstrated problem solving and analytical ability
5. Desire to assist in business development (luckily without any of the cold calling!)

Unlike many brokerage positions, we are fee based and therefore do not sell products or collect commissions.  We provide independent, individual advice to our individual and institutional clients that include the full scope of their financial planning needs including investments, estate and insurance planning.

Internship: Bright Financial

We are seeking an intern for our financial planning firm.  We would like to hire a business student with a minimum of two years left until graduation. It is an entry-level position with potential rapid advancement in daily responsibilities and experience.  Internship responsibilities could include:

• Portfolio reporting    
• Business processing
• Client services
• Preparing investment synopsis’ for ad visor/client meetings
• Individual client cases for advisors
 
It is a paid position that will require 15-24 hours a week of flexible scheduling.  This position is not intended to last just one semester and does not have to be coordinated with HCoB if you would prefer.

The candidate must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher in addition to having the following:
• An excellent problem solving ability
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Other criteria we will strongly consider are the intern’s intelligence, integrity, and initiative.  The intern should be punctual, personable, and be capable of working during the summer months as well as when school is in session.

A Financial Advisory Practice of Ameriprise Financial

Charles Zhang is looking to hire a WMU student of sophomore or junior status majoring in finance as soon as possible.  He’s looking for a hardworking, dedicated student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who is willing to work about 25 hours a week. The position he is hiring for is an administrative assistant who would be responsible for general office tasks.  The student will have the opportunity to gain knowledge of the financial workings of a personal financial planning company in a real world environment.  It would be a great opportunity for any student interested in gaining experience in personal financial planning as Charles is the #1 advisor in the country out of Ameriprise's 10,000+ advisors!
