Mission
Elements of Hip Hop’s goals are to provide students of Western Michigan University the opportunity to expand their knowledge of Hip Hop through the use of the various parts of break dancing, and to simultaneously encourage diversity and art into the lives of those students. We have also extended our mission to include the Kalamazoo community by recently offering a weekly class in the downtown area.

Introduction
Elements Of Hip Hop is a student organization at Western Michigan University. It was co-founded in the spring of 2002 by Kenny K. Wong and John Q. Martin, but at the time it did not have the resources it has now. The focus of the group is break dancing but other parts of hip hop are included. It is through the use of practices at the Student Recreational Center, and our downtown practice location, that interested individuals have the chance to learn, experience, and improve on the various parts and forms of hip hop.
