Service Projects

Vineyard Neighborhood Outreach Project
A few years ago, students from the combined ministries of the ELCA and the Missouri Synod Lutheran (Solid Grounds) campus groups converged on a recently purchased house in the Vine neighborhood of Kalamazoo to help renovate it for counseling, tutoring, and other services for lower-income families. The two ministries were brought closer together in service to God and neighbor.
This year, we're going to again join with Solid Grounds in our
service/outreach efforts. We're hoping to sponsor "Guerilla Service
Projects," in which we get in, complete a project, and get out. We
think that one-day (even one-afternoon or one-evening) projects are
more amenable to students' hectic schedules than longer ones. Ideally,
we'd like to schedule events regularly so that different students could
show up each time. Let us know if you're interested in doing God's work
while still keeping up with schoolwork.
