*[please stand] Confession of Sin
P] As we begin worship, let us pause to think
about the ways we betray our God,
the earth and the creatures
that inhabit it, including ourselves and each other.
{Silent Reflection}
P] Merciful God,
C] Have mercy upon us;
in your compassion
forgive us our sins,
known and unknown,
things done and left undone;
and so uphold us by
your Spirit
that we may live and
serve you in newness of life,
to the honor and glory
of your name; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
P] Almighty God have mercy on you,
forgive you all your
sins through the grace of Jesus Christ,
strengthen you in all
goodness,
and by the power of the
Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life.
C] Amen.

The Word
First Reading [if necessary]

you.
Let the world around me fade
away.
Jesus, draw me close; closer,
Lord to you.
For I desire to worship and
obey.
*Gospel / Sermon
Hymn of the Day
*The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father
almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ,
his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
*Prayers of the People (WOV #772)
O Lord, hear my prayer, O
Lord, hear my prayer:
When I call, answer me.
O Lord, hear my prayer, O
Lord, hear my prayer;
Come and listen to me.
P] In peace, we pray to you, Lord God for all
people in their daily life and work.
C] For our families, friends and neighbors, and
for those who are alone.
P] For this campus community, the nation, and
the world.
C] For all who work for justice, freedom, and
peace.
P] For the just and proper use of your creation;
C] For the victims of hunger, fear, injustice,
and oppression.
P] For all who are in danger, sorrow, or any
kind of trouble;
C] For those who minister to the sick, the
friendless, and the needy.
P] For the peace and unity of the church of God;
C] For all who proclaim the Gospel, and all who
seek the truth.
P] For the special needs and concerns of this
congregation…Hear us, Lord;
C] For your mercy is great.
P] We thank you, Lord, for all the blessings of
this life…We exalt you, O God;
C] And praise your name for ever and ever.
P] We pray for all who have died,
C] That they may have a place in your eternal
kingdom.
P] Lord, let your loving-kindness…C] Be upon
those who trust in you. Amen.
P] The peace of the Lord be with you always... C] and also with you.
The Meal
P] In the still of this hour,
we come to find rest
for our hearts and contentment for our minds.
C] We are caught up in the activity of our life
and need to pause and
be refreshed.
P] In the quiet of this place,
we come to touch
the forgiving grace of God in the bread and the wine.
C] We praise you, God, for your heavenly food
given in love for us.
P] In the night in which he was
betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread,
and
gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:
Take
and eat; this is my body, given for you.
Do
this for the remembrance of me.
Again, after supper, he
took the cup, gave thanks,
and
gave it for all to drink, saying:
This
cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people
for
the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.
“As The Grains of Wheat” (WOV #705)
As the grains of wheat
Once scattered on the hill were gathered
into one to become our bread,
So may all your people from all the ends
of earth
Be gathered into one in you.
Communion (all are invited for the bread
and/or wine, or for a blessing)
